Kiwi PC, a firm that specializes in computers for computer users who have aged, this week launched its low-end Linux PC for the senior. Linux may not be the first choice among those who consider themselves anything less than tech-savvy. However, Kiwi PC using a customized version of the OS is open at the latest offering, which is claimed will fill a gap in the market today.
"Until now, there is no easy way for senior citizens to navigate the Internet and stay connected with friends and family," said Oscar Ferreira, President of Kiwi PC. "Kiwi Linux-based PCs provide for those users that have been aged in an easy way to keep communicating, learning and online gaming."
Although one could argue that senior citizens could navigate the Internet and stay connected with friends and family from other machines, desktop PCs Kiwi has a custom UI, which is called 'Menu Me' which allows users to easily access to their Web sites most frequently visited and programs directly from the desktop.
